Lunit, a pioneer in AI-driven solutions for cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, has inked a landmark three-year supply contract with Samsung Electronics (Samsung Healthcare). This collaboration is set to redefine the landscape of chest screening by integrating Lunit’s cutting-edge AI technology into Samsung’s premium X-ray devices, promising heightened accuracy and faster diagnostic capabilities.
As part of the agreement, Lunit will provide Samsung Electronics with two advanced AI-powered chest screening solutions: Lunit INSIGHT CXR and Lunit INSIGHT CXR Triage. The initial phase of this strategic partnership will focus on deploying X-ray devices enhanced with Lunit’s AI solutions in the key markets of the US, Canada, and Europe. Subsequent phases will target expansion into the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia, marking a significant step towards a globally impactful collaboration.
To handle urgent cases often found in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and Emergency Rooms (ERs), X-ray devices equipped with Lunit INSIGHT CXR Triage will be primarily used in these critical medical settings.
Brandon Suh, CEO of Lunit, expressed enthusiasm about the potential outcomes of this collaboration, stating,
The synergy between Lunit and Samsung Electronics will enable faster, more accurate chest screenings, leading to timely interventions and improved patient outcomes. We’re excited about the potential this partnership holds for advancing chest X-ray practices, particularly in ICUs and ERs.
Lunit INSIGHT CXR, an AI-powered chest X-ray analysis solution, stands out for its remarkable capability to detect 10 of the most common lung abnormalities, including lung cancer, pneumonia, and pneumothorax. In addition, Lunit INSIGHT CXR Triage, an FDA-approved AI solution, detects specific critical issues like pleural effusion or pneumothorax on frontal chest X-ray images. The software then efficiently flags these images in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)/workstation, facilitating a prioritized review process for timely and targeted interventions.
This collaborative effort between Lunit and Samsung Electronics marks a significant leap forward in the realms of medical technology, promising to reshape the landscape of chest X-ray diagnostics globally and enhance the overall standard of patient care. The partnership is not only a testament to the prowess of South Korea’s technology industry but also provides a hopeful outlook for improved healthcare outcomes worldwide.
